With a date of 1935 the coin is a PEACE dollar. This is the last year issue for all U.S. silver dollars. It was struck in Philadelphia (no mintmark) and San Francisco. Assuming it's circulated and has no 'S' mintmark, average values are from $30.00 to $55.00 depending on the actual grade of the coin.
Assuming the coin is circulated and has no mintmark, the 1934 Peace dollar is a better date of the series. For an accurate assessment of value the coin needs to be seen and graded. In general retail values for low grade coins are $24.00-$25.00, better grade are $28.00-$30.00 and coins showing almost no wear run from $40.00-$70.00. Values are a market average and only for coins in collectible condition, coins that are bent, corroded, scratched, used as jewelery or have been cleaned have far less value if any to a collector or dealer.
As of February 2013, a 1935 Peace silver dollar in MS67 condition is worth about $17,000. A coin is this condition should be authenticated by a reputable coin grader.
I assume you are referring to a bill that's normally called a "silver certificate". If so, as of 02/2009 its auction value range is $10.-$15. depending on how worn it is.
Please don't assume that every old bill is a silver certificate. If it has a green seal it should say Federal Reserve Note across the top front, not silver certificate. There's more information at the question "What is the value of a 1934 US 5 dollar Federal Reserve Note?"
There are many varieties of US $20 bills that have brown seals, but only two types were printed in the 20th century - the 1929 series of National Currency Notes and the 1934 series of wartime currency printed for use in Hawaii. Please see the questionsWhat is the value of a 1934 US 20 dollar bill with HAWAII on it?What is the value of a 1929 US 20 dollar bill?
It might retail for $22-25. A dealer will probably pay only face value.

"D" is the highest letter for all 1934-dated $10 bills regardless of whether they're silver certificates or Federal Reserve Notes. If the "J" is in a large circle to the left of Hamilton's portrait, please check the banner across the top of the bill - it's almost certain you have a Federal Reserve Note and not a silver certificate. It's a Peace dollar not a Morgan, look at the back of the coin for a mintmark and post new question.
