A 1953-D penny is probably worth only 1-2 cents. The reason for that is because there was 700.5 million pennies minted that year (with a D symbol) and for your penny to be worth alot it has to be around 0-2 million pennies that were minted in that year.

There is no such thing as a "wheat head penny". Assuming you are referring to a 1917 Lincoln cent, its value depends on its condition and mint mark. See the Related Link for "Lincoln cent prices" to the right. In circulated condition, you'll get about 5-10 cents for it.
All Lincoln cents from 1959 to 2008 carry the Lincoln Memorial design, not wheat ears. In any case a 1985 US cent is extremely common and has no extra value.

You can identify if a penny is a wheat penny from 1953 by looking at the reverse (tails) side of the coin. If it has two wheat ears framing the words "ONE CENT" and the image of the Lincoln Memorial, then it is a wheat penny from 1953. Wheat pennies were minted from 1909 to 1958 and are recognizable by the wheat ears on the reverse side.
