I just bought a 1968 Ford F100/ranger and my ignition coil went out which is located on the passenger side by the firewall or on side wall, anyway after looking it over trying to replace the ignition coil, theres a negative wire that runs from the coil to the started. i crawed under it to inspect the other end of the negative wire and located what seems to be the starter..it doesnt look hard to take off, a few bolts.....but i would suggest looking at your ignition coil also, unless your sure its the starter.....the ignition coil module is only $15-$16 at auto zone..i would try to replace the cheapest componets first and work your way up. or else your going to spend alot of money tring to get it started.....good luck bro
If you're a big dude, yes.
Most Ford trucks are the same. First thing you do, is disconnect the battery cables. Then get underneath the truck, disconnect the negative cable from the starter. Remove the 2 bolts holding the starter. Remove, and replace the starter, and reconnect the negative cable to the starter, then reconnect your battery.
# Disconnect negative battery cable # Raise truck and support it # Disconnect the large cable from the terminal on the starter # Remove 4 bolts or nuts securing the starter and remove the starter from engine
# Disconnect negative battery cable # Disconnect the feed wire connecting the starter solenoid to the starter at the starter # Remove the retaining bolts securing the starter to the bellhousing # Pull the starter out of the bellhousing and lower it from the truck

The starter should be between the engine and trans on the right side of the truck. Disconnect battery, remove wire from starter to battery. There should only be 3 bolts attaching the starter to the trans bellhousing.
