first how long will it run befor it dies. simple test put a screw driver down threw the top of the carb to hold the choke open if that stops it from dieing then choke is the problem. If it does not fix problem sounds like your float is not adjusted right, will have to be re rebuilt to fix u could also have alot of rust in the tank that will block the fuel tank pick up tub also could be a fuel filter being stoped up also check the bottom of the fuel pump, if its a factory fuel pump it will have a settling bowl on it, if that is there you may dump it out to remove any rust or particles in it, if its a replacement most people buy the cheaper fuel pump that doesnt have the settling bowl. if it doesnt have a settling bowl then you are only left with the small fuel filter that screws into the carb, so you should replace that fuel filter with a new one and also place a simple in line fuel filter on your rubber fuel line between the fuel pump and the carb. that will help keep you running in the future even if its not the current problem
