Very definitely NOT the President's wife. The woman on the $1 coins minted 1979-1981 and in 1999 is Susan B. Anthony, a 19th-century advocate for womens' rights, and who never married.
The coin bears a stylized image of Miss Liberty, as was common with most coins of the period. However, the designer, Anthony de Francisci, did not work from his imagination - the model was his wife Teresa.

He and his wife Mary, Major Henry Rathbone, and his fiance' Clara Harris, oh and John Wikes Booth.
Presidents John Tyler, Millard Fillmore, Benjamin Harrison, Theodore Roosevelt, and Woodrow Wilson all remarried after the death of a first wife. Ronald Reagan remarried after divorcing his first wife.
Right idea, wrong words- in the PEACE silver dollar- 1921-35 none issued in 1929 owing to depression-naturally. Okay the word Trust is spelled in the Latin style TRVST and not Liberty . this was to play up the Latin effect. the designer was an Italian-American and the Girl on the face was partly patterned after his wife. on the other hand there is little doubt the Morgan dollar was patterned after the ancient Greek Decadrachma of Syracuse with only minor changes to accommodate Liberty on the Hat , etc.The Decadrachma of Syracuse is a very valuable and Big Ancient coin.
Yes they can!!!
It was a dollar. There was an earlier reference to the man's wife playing a nickel machine. At the end of the episode, when the crazed man was being dragged away, he was shouting, "that machine took my dollar - that machine owes me a dollar."
The wife of the Vice president
Anthony De Francisci was the designer of this coin and used his wife (Teresa Cafarelli) as the model to inspire him for the portrait of Miss Liberty.
