I am not sure if this will be any help. I had a similar problem. Except I turned the idle screw or what I thought was the right screw and it started idling bad and died within a few seconds. I tested it by putting my hand over the carb and the idle told me the carb was oxygen loaded since it leveled out with oxygen depravation. Anyway it was getting extra air. I rebuilt the carb and adjusted two of the four screw used to adjust the carb. So I would suggest a rebuild just cause it is and old car and if hasn't already been done after 25 years it could use a carb rebuild. So there are for screws to adjust the carb and a rebuild. Good luck. Also the rebuild cost 25 dollars and a few hours of work. Follow the numbers. Andrew
there are two possibilities for this, * the engine get fuel, may be because of broken or stuk open idle solenoid, even when the engine is turned off still fuel is supplied to the conbuston chamber. * well you have turned of the ignition, still the engine runs, sure the engine is hot and there are carbon deposits in the combustion chamber which are hot enough to ignite the fuel mixture in the combustion chamber. or else the the exhaust valve edge around the valve head is so thin therefore it stays at red hot to ignite the fuel mixture in the combustion chamber. your engine will stop running if you can stop one of the two possibilities.
Athena was not turned into a spider. She turned Archene into a spider for showing her up.

Driver's side floor. With the start switch turned on (not running) and the display showing the oil life reading, press the accelerator to the floor and hold. To the best of my memory, this resets the reading.

Sounds like you have a headgasket problem, if your compression is strong is enough for it to run, your engine gets hot and the parts inside expand, creating a larger compression leak thus your vehicle is not capable of running and shuts down.
Because your wiper switch is turned on!
