if you have already tried to spray lube where the clutch pedal pivots, it is possible that when someone removed the engine the slave cylinder line was pinched or kinked. It is also possible that someone has jacked up the drivers side rocker panel and pinched the line there. try following the line from the slave all the way up to the front. If nothing is visible then it may be the shaft the clutch moves on which requires the removal of the transmission to inspect.
Pontiac Fiero was created in 1984.

Yep, they built a bunch of those

There is no adjustment possible for the clutch pedal on the Pontiac Fiero. The earlier design pedals were problematic in that they could bend, preventing full disengagement of the clutch. You may also have a problem in the hydraulic system for the clutch. Check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder reservoir. This is the small, cylindrical reservoir on the driver's side of the front compartment. It is possible that you have a fluid leak in the clutch system. This can cause the same problems as an improperly adjusted clutch pedal on vehicles with an adjustable pedal. You may also have a defective master or slave cylinder. I suggest picking up a service manual at your local auto parts store, they go through everything the average car owner needs to know about their specific vehicle including extensive information on inspecting, repairing, and replacing clutch components. You don't necessarily need to replace your clutch pedal if it is bent. Rodney Dickman (www.rodneydickman.com) sells an adjustable banjo that will fix your problem. It also allows fine adjustment for perfect disengagement. If you want the pedal replacement go to www.fierostore.com. In any case, make sure your hydraulic system is working properly before messing around with the pedal. Good luck! If you have further questions, I suggest looking through the archives at Pennock's Fiero Forum (www.fiero.nl) by using the search feature. You can also post in the Technical Discussions & Questions section. The people there are very helpful and you should get a response within a day if not hours or minutes. -Steven
1984-1988 pontiac fiero with the 2.5L engine or any pontiac with the 2.5L engine
Pontiac Fiero made from 1984-1988
Don't bother, neither the manual or automatic use it
there were only fire problems in the 1984 4cyl fieros, not any of the later years
no but it can stop the fuel pump from running.
sometimes the problem is the clutch pedal on 84s. Put a magnet to it(on the shaft part ),if it doesent stick you have an aluminum pedal which has a tendence to flex when you push on it which doesent give you a full throw.29.95 at the fiero store. Also check where the shaft goes into the bellhousing, they sometimes stick there. Lube w/a slippery spray and work it. Otherwise, maybe the master cyl.?
