not sure what model or series you refering too, but many times in Mercedes of that era, high idle is due to a dead Overload protection relay. It's is one or two ten amp fuses that you can get from any auto shop. Usually this solves the problem.

If not, usually for that year there is a screw by the idle control valve that you can use to adjust the idle.

What difference between running torque and starting torque?

Torque is the the force required to move a body about its fulcrum. The starting Torque is the force required to move the body from 0 rpm to the stipulated rpm, the Running torque is the force required to maintain the rpm. The Starting torque is often higher than the running force. Imagine peddling a push bike with one gear (say the one gear is a high gear), the force required to set off will be relatively high in comparison to the force you exert in order to maintain a velocity.

Does nitros work at low rpm?

Nitrous really doesn't care at what rpm the engine is running at, whether it be low end or high end. Whatever amount of hp the nitrous is set to add, it will add at any rpm. Although, you need to be careful because you cant overload the engine at low rpm's or you'll start breaking things.
