Dexon IID, IIE, or III. Any Dexon III is fine, and it's what I use. -Bob, 1986 Volvo 240DL wagon

Most people with this motor go with a th350, th700r4, or a th200r4. The th350 does not have an overdrive gear, so if your driving on the highway, your gas milage will suffer.
The car has a 700R4 transmission. 4 speed automatic
If this is an automatic transmission, which I am assuming it is it will not work the same as a standard. Only drive it in overdrive or 1st gear.
If it's an automatic it's probably the 700R4
