I have a 1986 k2500 Diesel pick-up and the lugs on both sides are RHT (Clockwise on, Counter-Clockwise off). My friend's '89 c1500 is similar. Hope this helps.
It's a left hand thread. Crank to the right.

Pull the glovebox and pull to the left and forward on the ECM...comes right out
All V8 Chevrolet's are 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2 with 1,3,5,7 on the left bank and 2,4,6,8 on the right with the distributor rotating clockwise.

The 305 is a small black Chevy in the gmc truck. So yes it has a right and left bank = 2 heads one on the right and one on the left...
It is on the back left side of the intake, just above the valve cover.
if you are facing the truck it is on your left hand side of the motor, if you are sitting in your truck it is on the right side of the motor... the side the battery is on.
Located on left side, underneath steering column.
