1986 Chrysler Fifth Ave muffler sounding noises turned into your car not going into drive or reverse and once turned off the car will not start anymore anyone know why?

Linkage from the shifter to the tranny might be broken, frayed, streched, or misadjusted, check that cable out and make sure its all set, if it is, the tranny may or may not be blown.
