There are several possibilities that might cause hard starting.
1. Not enough fuel pressure. The fuel pressure should measure about 45 psi at the Schroeder valve on the fuel rail. If the pressure bleeds down then the fuel pump has to build up pressure before the fuel injectors will open.
2. A sticky or binding throttle position sensor might cause hard starting.
3. A faulty MAP sensor could possibly cause hard starting.
4. A stuck open egr valve can cause hard starting.
Does your 1986 Chevy Celebrity have the 2.5L 4 cylinder engine or the 2.8L V6?
Yes
it will be mounted at the harmonic balancer on the bottom and front of the engine
There is no 1994 Chevy Celebrity. The Celebrity was discontinued in 1989, with the exception of the station wagon which remained in production through 1990. Assuming you mean 1984, depending on which engine it is, very easy or slightly difficult.
Yes the transaxle should bolt up.
Does the engine have spark? White fumes could possibly be fuel vapor.
The signal flasher on all versions of the Chevy Celebrity is on the fuse block.
The nearest answer I have found for the weight of a Celebrity station wagon is 2700 to 3000 pounds. That would vary by engine and options the car came with.
OEM tires were most likely 215/75R14s
I am presuming you mean the pcv valve, it is in the valve cover.
It depends on which engine your car has as to how to change the power steering pump. Let me know if it is the 2.5 4 cylinder or the 2.8 V6 and I will get back to you.
1984 was a good year for the Chevy Celebrity. It was in 1984 that the Eurosport option first came out as well as the introduction of the station wagon. It was the last year of the carbureted "Z' engine. I have three 1984 Celebrities in my collection. One is a standard four door sedan, one is a Eurosport coupe with the "Z" engine and the third is a Eurosport convertible. The convertible version may be one of the rarest Celebrity models produced with as few as 200 being made.
