Check it is not a grinding noise from a pulley or part like the water pump, idler, tensioner etc. Or suspension like the wheel bearing, axle etc. Make sure where it is first before proceeding. If it is in the engine then something is amiss. It is never good to hear grinding from the engine. I suspect it may be from an extenal source though.
