Filters may be clogged in the injectors. They make a kit to replace all the seals and filters in the throttle body. I've done it, just pay very close attention to how everything fits together. Could also be PCV valve
on tbi systems, usually a vaccuum leak. check gaskets on the carb, and hoses that are carb related
Look on the carb for a small vacuum source above the throttle body. You would want one that has no vacuum at idle.

It could be the Idle Air Control (Idle speed control) valve. Its located on the left side of your TBI and has an electrical connection.
Black smoke is excessive fuel, or "rich." It is probably flooding out at idle. Either the floats in the carb, or the needle, and seat.

I just bought a 79 Chevy with the 5.7 350 in it..it was doing the same thing next time you put gas in it get some sort of additive like carb cleaner and put it in the gas then try and blow it out a little I drove mine about 100 miles when I bought it and it seems to be just fine now
