You have a loose connection someplace. Banging on the dash is a temporary solve ... and will never fix the problem. One needs to take the instrument cluster out and look for loose wire connections or plugs.

how exactly did you diagnose your SPEEDOMETER working in neutral. is it because your not moving and it read 0mph? now your TACHOMETER which typically goes from 1-10 (x1000) if that's doesnt move in gear that's just fu**ing weird
