1991 Chevy 350 pick up 1500 heater display works and will get hot butt it wont go to the defrost and is weak on the floor and vents?

the flap on the vent and defroster is stuck somewhere in between so it is not letting proper airflow to where you designate it possibly something sticky has fell down through the defrost vent and is constricting max. airflow

Most likely a bad or disconnected vacuum hose to the defrost/floor selector in the heater ducting.

When there is a problem with the vent system it dfaults to the defrost setting. Sounds like you have a problem in the doors that direct the air flow.
