1991 Lincoln mark vii you just got a new alternator and battery and the battery light is still on?

i have had problems with my 88 mark VII and ended up getting sick of replacing fuseable links, so i grabed a part of a wireing harness from a mustang gt and re wired from the alternator charge wire to the starter relay(fender mounted)
