1991 Mercury Capriautomatic won't shift out of low gear and if you flat foot it it seems to go into neutral Shifts hard but reverse works and it doesnt slip gears Any suggestion on what you can do to?

I.m guessing the tranny is shot. You could replace it with a junk yard one for a couple hundred dollars.

Follow the positive cable wire from the battery and it will end up plugged right into the safety switch.

well it depends if your wanting to go backwards then you put the car in reverse . or if your wanting to stop then you put the car on neutral.
