When I was doing stuff like this I would pull the carpet back usually on the passenger side and then drill a hole from the inside out. Only go just enough to just go through the metal then you wont hit anything behind it. Drill the hole slightly larger so that you can put a rubber grommet in first. Then run the wire through the grommet. If you dont then the wire will eventually wear through and will cause a short circuit. Then just run the wiring around the edge of the intierior and into the trunk. Good luck.
