This may be a dumb question, but did you remember to plug your new alternator in? I installed a new alternator on my truck but never plugged it in, so it wasn't charging the battery and kept dying.
Usually when the battery light comes on its the Alternator, or a bad wire from Alternator to battery, but id check Alternator first.
The alternator is over or under charging. The alternator is over or under charging.
bad pcm regulator
A dead alternator is most likely. Maybe the ECM but not likely.
It runs to the under hood fuse box, the alternator, and the starter.
Start engine and measure volts at battery, it should be at least 13
Remove battery connections, then slacken the serpentine belt. Removal of alternator is simple and straightforward, 3 bolts, replace in reverse order.
If the battery is dead you will need a battery charger. If the battery is good and you have low amperage then you will need another alternator. Most parts stores will check it for you. If you are looking for MORE amperage then you would have to buy a larger amperage alternator.
To test the alternator on a 2000 Dodge Caravan, first, start the engine and use a multimeter to measure the voltage at the battery terminals. A healthy alternator should produce between 13.8 to 14.5 volts while the engine is running. If the voltage is significantly lower, the alternator may be faulty. Additionally, you can check for unusual noises or a warning light on the dashboard, which may indicate an issue with the alternator.
We just had the same problem on a 2005 caravan. Auto parts store tested it and siad the alternator was bad. Took it to main dealer and they said the battery was bad. They changed the battery and all is well. (Main dealer battery $160 so beware!!!!!) Try a new battery from somewhere cheaper. You can also remove the alternator and take it to an auto parts store where they can bench test it and tell you if it is bad. They can do the same with the battery.
My 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan began doing this and it is because the battery has a low charge, could be due to old battery, or even bad alternator. The quickest and easiest fix is to charge the battery and then wait and see if it happens again after. If it happens then you should have it looked at by a professional
Perhaps alternator is not charging battery properly - check with a volt meter A fully charged battery should read approx. 12.8 volts without engine running reading should be approx. 14.2 with engine running with good alternator
