Umm, how do you know?( not sarcastically, but dead serious) Is this because you have an ECU read showing that the computer signal is not reaching the fuel pump, a mechanic's diagnostic revealed this info, or because you are like me and have a car that isn't running correctly and if appears as thought the problem sounds and feels like a defective fuel pump? If the later, what made you start at the fuel pump and have you wrecked or impacted the dashboard/air bags/ or anything that would have mimicked a crash? Have you any other incomplete or disconnected repairs going on? My point here is that fuel injected motors all have safety features programmed into them- in some, you crash and this sends a signal to the brain to shut off the fuel supply-you try to run a car without oil and this signals the brain to cut off the fuel supply. I am suspecting that you need to reset your car's brain ECU which is going to cost you some $$ unless you can find a friend that has the diagnostic cart and is willing to decipher the light display. If it started a fuel symptom and you noticed rough starts and cutting out up until it just stopped and you then assumed that it was the fuel pump causing the problem, then it is most likely an oxygen sensor or a small vacuum leak that told the brain that the mixing ratio was not correct and the shut off was to prevent even more expensive damage. I'll check back to see if you did so if you have more info please type away.
