i know it has to do with the some type of spring that is loacted in the steering wheel under the air bag. i am having the same problem with my truck. i am just trying to figure out how do you go about changing the spring? ANSWER Sounds like you have a sticking door ajar switch - they are located inside the doors mounted on the backside of the latching mechanism .

Just to the right of your headlight switch is a gauge lighting dimmer wheel switch , if that has been rotated all the way up it turns on your courtesy lights when the doors are closed. Also , if a door ajar light is on in your gauge cluster you probably have a sticking door ajar switch

I believe if you turn your gauge panel dimmer switch all the way it turns on the interior lights when all the doors are closed
