1995 thunderbird 4.6 V8 and you replaced a shredded serpentine belt you installed it according to the diagram and within 30 seconds of starting the engine the new belt was shredded Any suggestions as?

I found that the smog pulley was reversed when put back together by my nephew and his father in law when they changed out the water pump, causing the pulleys to be misaligned and shred belts.
