I have a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquise. Where is the interior lighting switch on the door.
Not sure what you are asking there is a white wire on the door switch for the interior lighting.
near the fusebox (drivers side interior)
I believe the light for the cargo area is turned on with the interior courtesy lights by rotating your gauge lighting dimmer wheel switch all the way UP ( The switch is located just to the right of the headlight switch )
Most often this is due to an interior light being left on. Often it is the roller switch that controls the dashlight brightness and interior lighting being set to 'interior lights on'.
Check fuse Check operation of door switches Check operation of headlight switch
Just a guess , has your guage lighting dimmer wheel switch been rotated all the way down ( or to one side ) ? I believe that will turn off all the interior lights It is located to the right of your headlight switch
Has your gauge lighting dimmer switch ( to the right of your headlight switch ) been turned all the way down ( or to one side ? ) Depending on the year of Ford Explorer that can keep your interior lights from coming on when you open a door
Is there a gauge panel dimmer wheel switch ? Try rotating it , it may be rotated all the way in one direction
Bad door switch or bad headlight switch
Just to the right of the headlight switch on your dash is a dimmer wheel switch for your gauge lighting , if the switch is rotated all the way down ( past the detent ) the interior lights won't come on . Also , if the switch is rotated all the way up ( past the detent ) the interior lights will come on with the doors closed
In the trunk on the drivers side in the corner fender skirt under the interior carpet.
A mercury switch is an electronic switch that opens or closes a circuit when the switch, or device it is attached to, tilts.
