I have a 96 Dodge van with a six in it. I have heard that a V-8 and a V-6 starter are the same? My starter was "dragging" when it got hot. But the van would always start. Well after awhile it started to drag a lot more. Then my van started to stall and run bad. A friend of mine hooked it up to his scanner. His scanner acted like it was not hooked up or the van was not running. He said there must be a 5 volt wire going to the computer that was broke somewhere. I gave up and was going to dump it. He thought about it for a day and said that the starter had such a draw on it that it was pulling the power from the computer. This was making the computer act up. So he thru a new starter in ($100.00) with out labor cost. Well the van starts and runs great. My advice is if your starter is dragging or drawing power when hot try a used, rebuilt or new one. It worked for me. Hope this helps?
