This problem occurs because of gummed up fuel injectors. Usually in cars that use Ca gas. Fuel additives for emmissions standards cause this so this is olny good for cars equiped for Ca emmissions standards. There is a service program in place by GM. The fix is a new SPFI system upgrade that will prevent this from happening. Research to see if your car is eligible for this free repair. Usually 10 years or 100,000 miles to qualify.

On my 1997 Silverado the TPS is right in the accelerator pedal. Look close at your pedal for the wire and plug in module.
