Just to the right of your headlight switch on the dash there is a gauge lighting dimmer wheel switch . Check to see if that has been rotated all the way up , if it has that turns on all the interior lights when the doors are closed ( also , if you are getting a door ajar indicator light in your gauge cluster , either something is not shut properly or you have a sticking door ajar switch ) and , if you are referring to one of the map reading lights in the front overhead console , just try pushing the on / off button because the odd time they will turn on by themselves !
It will for maybe 3 seconds , when the key is turned to the run position , before you start the Explorer
Has your gauge lighting dimmer switch ( to the right of your headlight switch ) been turned all the way down ( or to one side ? ) Depending on the year of Ford Explorer that can keep your interior lights from coming on when you open a door
pretty easy really, make sure your interior lights are not turned on. Your headlights control should also be the interior light controller. Turn it clockwise or counterclockwise to turn your interior lights off. You'll run your battery down if you dont
First thing you want to check is the dimmer switch to see if it is turned all the way down.
You use a scan tool after repairing the cause of the code that turned the light on.
Sorry , there isn't a reset button - you have to have the Explorer scanned to find the trouble code(s) that caused the check engine light to come on . The problem has to be repaired before the check engine light can be turned off by using the OBD II scan tool
If the engine bearings are bad, then the oil pan will need to be removed to gain access. The engine will probably need to be removed and checked for other damage, as bad bearings can score the crankshaft requiring it to be turned smooth or replaced.
The check engine/service engine light should come on as soon as the ignition is turned to the on position without starting the engine. If it does not, then the bulb is either blown or has been removed.
Yes, the crankshaft main and rod journals can be turned .010", .020", or .030" under and or just polished but it has to be removed from the engine to do so.
no, but it can be turned off.
I'm not a mechanic / technician , but I remember reading about another fellows Ford Explorer that would not start after it was warmed up ( he had to wait for the engine to cool down ) and it turned out to be his coil pack
Bad door switch or bad headlight switch
