Battery is dead or you have a bad solenoid. Connections at the solenoid and/or starter could be loose or corroded.
i had the same problem on my Taurus 06. check the battery and it's connections, something is loose. i have changed the battery and cleaned the the terminals. every thing turned ok
Got to check the connections. The connections at the battery as well as at the solenoid/starter. There may also be an ignition switch problem but this would likely cause other problems as well. The connections should clean and tight and if your battery terminals are an after market type the part where the cable goes inside the terminal needs to be checked and cleaned if it can be disassembled. The starter solenoid is usually mounted on a fender close to the battery in the engine compartment and are notorious to cause failure and often times intermittent failures as well (one time it works another time it doesn't).
no
Have you removed the battery cables and cleaned the battery posts and cable connections? This is a frequent cause for the problem that you describe.
Start with the easy things first. I had this issue and it was a loose battery terminal. The terminal had corroded to the point that the battery made poor contact. I cleaned the battery connections, but could not get the connector tight enough to make a good connection. I eventually replaced the cable (under warranty). The battery also had to be replaced as it had been drained and recharged so many times, it had lost its umpph. Another possibility is a bad starter solenoid or a bad starter. Good Luck!
Yes, All you have to do is visit a watch shop or Go to Myers, DJ ect to get it cleaned or replaced. Hope this helps you :)
First check the 12 volt battery for 12 volts. If you don't have a volt meter then turn on the lights and see if they are bright. If not check connections. Then recheck. If the battery and connections are good then you will need to check the starting solenoid if equipped. Then finally pull and check the starter. The connector can look good but have enough corrosion as to prevent starting. Pull the connectors and clean with a wire brush. If you pick up a tool a the local auto store its only a couple of bucks and cleans the inside great. Then reinstall and tighten the cleaned pieces.
Are you sure the battery has enough juice (13.5volts)? Is the engine locked up? Try turning the motor by hand. If the engine is not seized, take the starter off and bench test it. Recheck your negative battery cable, a very good chance your problem lies there. The same thing happened to my 1995 full size bronco today. I took the battery cables off cleaned each one, and still the same problem. I replaced the starter, solenoid, finally noticed my ground wire from my intake to the fire wall was charred. So I checked my lower battery cable connections and my ground was not connected. I replaced my firewall ground and replaced my battery ground wire and all my problems were solved. Even my dash readings were fixed, I always had crazy readings on my dash (temp, oil pressure and amp gauge) all were fixed with the installation of my new ground wires.
this just happened to us -- after installing new starter, it turned out that the battery connection was not correct -- auto parts store checked and cleaned terminals and fixed connection, all for free. this just happened to us -- after installing new starter, it turned out that the battery connection was not correct -- auto parts store checked and cleaned terminals and fixed connection, all for free.
You have a bad battery, alternator, or starter solenoid. Load test the battery first, then the alternator.
bad plug or bad gas or timing could be off carb needs to be cleaned and or adjusted check timing last but it could also be your starter solenoid if the connections are slightly loose, on my predator had same problem constant popping, just be sure to check the solenoid first
