Plugged air or fuel filter? Plugged catalytic converter?
Stuck in Park? Check to see if the brake lights are working - same circuit as shift interlock Check to see if stop light fuse blown Try turning key to 1st position (unlock) shift to neutral to start and then shift to Drive also check to make sure the selenoid on the shift mechanism is working on mine it froze up and stopped working properly if that happens it will normally work when the interior is warm just make sure it is working or it wont let you shift.
Stands for Electronic Controlled Transmission. The button switches the transmission between Normal & Power Mode. The Power Mode changes the shift pattern to allow the transmission to up-shift at a higher RPM. For instance the Normal Mode up-shift will occur at 37 mph and the Power Mode up-shift will occur at 47 mph. Fuel economy will suffer in the Power Mode. Normally you would leave it in the Normal Mode unless you want a little more sporty feel.
They are stick shift.
If this only happens when on an incline then it is normal. Apparently the 35-45 mph area is where one of the shift points is. On an incline the car is gonna down shift to get better horse power to get up the hill. If it is going fast enough to reach the shift point though the car will sometimes go back and forth in gear shifts. Try to maintain a speed that will keep this from happening as much. If this vehicle has an overdrive selector on it then turn it off. This will keep it from going to over drive on hills and will result in better power to go up inclines. I hope I explained this ok. Good luck. tranny is shifting because it is choosing correct gear to operate try giving it a little more gas or a little less and it will stay in the appropriate gear
A wave caused by a sudden shift in the ocean floor is called a tsunami.
Have the Catalitict(SPelling off) convertor check.
Might want to check your fuel filter if you thinks its not getting gas.
If a 2000 Jeep Wrangler suddenly loses power in 5th gear, it might be a problem with the speed sensor on the transmission. This sensor regulates when the Jeep will shift or should shift.
A 1992 Oldsmobile may not shift out of park because the transmission is stuck. Check to transmission fluid to ensure it is at the proper level.
If your Oldsmobile Alero will not shift into overdrive, the transmission may have froze up. Check the fluid levels to determine if you are low on fluid.
pull the power lock fuse,,, my 94 cutlass did the samething..

The 2000 Oldsmobile Alero shift solenoid is located on the top of the transmission. The shift solenoid can be access by removing the inside shifter console.
There is a staple on the front of the gearshift just below the knob, remove it and lift the shift knob.
It's important because as people move from one state to another, a state either loses or gain representatives. This causes a shift in power. It is important because representation is based on population.
