For dry ingredients, an American cup is equivalent to 8 ounces. 8 ounces is equivalent to 228.57 grams. For liquid ingredients an American cup is equivalent to 235.29 milli liters. If you ever need any other conversions simply type "food measurement conversions" into any search engine and you shouldn't have any trouble finding a conversion calculator that will suit your needs :)
Actually, that's not quite right. A cup is a measure of volume, as such, the weight of a "full cup" is going to vary considerably depending on what density of the dry ingredient put in the cup. For example, a cup of lead (Pb) will weigh far more than 8oz, and a cup of feathers will weigh far less. There is no standard conversion of volume (cups) to weight (grams). The above measurements are true for liquids (such as water and milk, but nothing thicker, so not true for yogurt, oil etc...), but a cup is not always 228.57 grams for dry ingredients.
