Who said "Nationalism lead to independence in India and Vietnam?" India and Vietnam have nothing to do with each other.

India was a crown colony of the UK until the end of WWII. British India was never conquered by Japan; although the British/allies did stop the Japanese army at Imphal in 1944 which was as deep as the Japanese army got into India during the war. After WWII, the British simply granted independence to India (no longer a crown colony).

Vietnam was taken from France by Japan (no matter how politically correct historians want to word the conquest, it was taken) during WWII. When WWII ended in 1945 Japan relinquished her conquests, and Vietnam was one of them. When France attempted a return to Vietnam, the nationals (Vietnamese) resisted (called the 1st Indo China War or French Indo China War). That war went on from 1946 until 1954.

Why did the leaders at congress of Vienna fear nationalism?

He was correct to form that opinion; nationalism ripped the Austrian Empire apart and for exactly the reason he predicted. The Austrian Empire was ruled by the German-speaking Austrians who were a majority in a very small minority of the Austrian Empire. There were far many more Slovenes, Croats, Serbians, Bosniaks, Hungarians, Romanians, Poles, Czechs, and Slovaks than Austrians and these peoples would eventually demand independence on nationalist grounds. When this nationalism was realized at the end of World War I, the Austrian Empire ceased to exist.

What was the primary reason the US did not support the Vietnamese in their struggle for independence?

The primary reason for the US not supporting the Vietnamese in their struggle for independence was the fear of communism spreading in Southeast Asia. The US saw Vietnam as a battleground in the larger Cold War conflict against the Soviet Union and feared that allowing Vietnam to gain independence from France would lead to a communist takeover.
