Impulse Noise is the a noncontinuous noise and one of the the most difficult errors to detect because it occurs randomly. Like a lighting strike, the severity of the static across the radio could be so severe that you couldn't hear the music or like a vinyl record with a scratch, the pops and clicks associated with the hitting the scratch making the sound at that exact moment unrecoverable. Typically though, the impulse noise is an analog burst of energy.

Impulse noise (also called noise spike), according to Forouzan and Fegan (2007), occurs when a high energy signal (spike) enters the transmission line or the electronic device suddenly. Impulse noise can sometimes completely destroy digital signals by misplacing multiple bits making it difficult to determine 1s and 0s in the affected bit stream, therefore unrecoverable. Digital signals can be recovered from impulse noise provided that the signal has not been completely destroyed. Although signal spike affects analog signals, installing special filters can prevent impulse noise error. (Koech, 2019)

Impulse noise. Because it produces random spikes that can damage the data.

What do engineers use the signal to noise ratio for?

Signal to noise ratio is a measure of signal strength to the background noise. Engineers use the signal to noise ratio to improve digital signal processing.

Why the received signal in analog communication is distorted by the channel noise than that of digital communication?

If an RF signal is AM modulated with a analogue signal any noise will add or subtract to the amplitude of the RF signal and will be present in the audio signal after detection, also will the noise add itself to the audio signal, where as in digital communication a slight variation in the amplitude of the signal is of no concern because you only work with ones and zeros, it's high or it's low

What is the main advantage of digital transmission over analog transmission?

digital signal is less susceptible to signal degradation due to the nature of it's transmission signal which is either on or off and therefore less errors occur as analog is prone to signal degradation and loss that is why digital tv is crisp and clear and analog is somewhat blurry in comparison, also with higher bandwidth achievable by digital transmission more data is able to be transmitted.

What is effect of noise on digital communication system?

it will affect the output of a receiver only if it falls within the passband.in that case, the carrier and noise voltage will mix and the difference frequency,if audible, will interfere with the reception of the wanted signal..

Why same junction box is not used for digital and analog signals?

Signal crosstalk. Most specifically is high speed digital switching noise being picked up by analog circuits and upsetting their operation.

Why digital signals are more noise free than analog signals?

Digital signals are "forced" to be either 1 or 0, whereas analog signals are not. This means that a signal of 0.8 will be pushed to 1 in a digital signal and will remain 0.8 in an analog signal, and 0.2 will be 0 digital and 0.2 analog. This means that in order to overwhelm a digital signal the noise must do much more work to be effective. digital signal have only two states analog have infinite states therefore more susceptible to noise

What is different about the method used to boost digital signal strength compared to the method used to boost analog signal strength?

A digital signal requires a repeater, which retransmits the signal in its original form, and an analog signal requires an amplifier, which increases the strength of both the signal and the noise it has accumulated.

Why is digital signal immune to noise?

Digital signals can gather information with noise because the information component is determined whether its presence or absence a data bit. Digital signals can processed by digital circuit components they are cheaper an easily to create in many components on a signal chip.

What is noise in digital photography?

Digital photography noise is a common occurrence in photography when the setting of the ISO is too high or if you are using a cheap digital camera. When you press the shutter on your camera, light hits the sensor, and an analog signal is produced, which is converted to a digital image. If, during this time, something messes up the particles creating the analog signal, then noise is produced. Noise can be reduced in Photoshop www.goldprints.com

What is digital signal processing system?

DSP -Digital signal processing the word it self says it is process of analyzing the digital signal . The system which does this work of analysis is the digital signal processing system. In this system the raw analog signal(ex:human voice) which is time domain signal is fed to the pre aliasing filter which removes noise part of the signal and this fed to the sampling and quantization in which the real time analog signal is discretized and digitized . After this process this digitized signal is fed to the DSP processor to do the specific operation on the signal (ex: convolution , modulation etc.,) .This processed signal is fed to the D/A which converts the digital signal to the analog signal real time signal. after all explaining the process of signal processing. the stages between the sampling and D/A is the digital processing system.

What is tv white noise?

White noise is also called "snow" and it looks like a snow storm on the screen. It is the result of an analog receiver not getting a signal and it can be compared to the hiss from a radio when it loses its signal. Modern televisions often suppresses the noise and digital televisions do not suffer from it at all.
