I'm having the same problem. The cause of the nackered battery and dead alternator could be a faulty charge relay. Try replacing this and see if the light goes out..
check the alternator. Use a digital multimeter and with engine running you should have 13-14 volts at the battery. If less than 12.5 Alternator is not charging Also check the amperage the alternator is putting out.
no no
I had this problem on my disco 1. Turned out to be the alternator, which was replaced and the problem was fixed.
yes if one of the wires was getting an earth from the alternator cover or rubbing off the engine the battery light is really an alternator light warning you that the alternator is not charging the battery
Is the battery/alt warning light on? if they didn't disconnect the battery while the starter was being replaced and they accidently shorted the battery cable out it could have damaged the regulator of the alternator some of the Delphi regulators are very sensitive to that, but if it tested normal at the parts place, does it run down while driving or while sitting?
Your alternator is defective and not recharging the battery. Have the alternator checked.
The alternator switches off
It means that your device's battery is dead. It's a warning that the battery MUST be replaced!
Because the battery is worn out and needs to be replaced for optimum performance.
FYI - I had a bad alternator. Apparently, a failed alternator may/can/will cause the battery AND brake warning lamps to come on. Alternator has been replaced, and all warning lamps cleared.
Your battery is not fully charged. Can mean the battery is going bad or the alternator is failing.
It normally means the alternator is not putting out enough voltage to keep the battery charged and is defective. Can be a loose alternator belt also.
