2000 Cherokee Sport 97000 I start it the oil press 40 after warm up it goes to 15 or 20 and when you stop it drops my check gage comes on when you gas it it goes back to 15 0r 20?

The low oil pressure condition you're describing is the result of worn rod and/or main bearings. Often the result of infrequent oil changes. Try a heavier grade oil. If you've been using 5W15 oil, try 10W30 or even 15W40. That can give you some more miles from the engine. But keep the oil and filter clean and change them according to the manufacturers specifications.

It has to do with your transmission. Have a dianostics done where they check the code # when your engine light comes on. Mine showed up as P0706 which is a transmission return sensor code. My Backup lights are affected only when I put the Jeep in reverse. All my guages work intermittently and the airbag light comes on and off etc. I have 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport. The problem started when the dealership in Santa Rosa did not put the proper fittings on when replacing my return cooler transmission lines. Subsequently, all my transmission fluid leaked out and the problems this caused included my engine starting to leak and all the guages to work intermittently. You most likely have a comunication issue between the computers on the Jeep. You need ot have the system checked for codes to know what to diagnose.
