Even if the battery is good it could have a corroded terminal. Use a meter to check the status of the electrical system when you try to start the engine. If the voltage drops too much you might want to have the battery checked. Also check the voltage at the cable. If the voltage drops there when you try to engage the starter you probably have a corroded or damaged cable.
A good rule of mechanics is, never replace parts until you KNOW what's wrong.
If after the above you still aren't sure, check the starter.
With the car in neutral, jacked up, wheels blocked, on jack stands... whatever other safety procedures are appropriate... engage the starter solenoid directly. If the starter engages that way, it's a problem with the wiring.
The starter on a 2005 Honda Accord is replaced by disconnecting the negative battery terminal, removing the starter shroud, and unbolting it from the block. The wiring harness is then disconnected and the replacement starter mounted.
Remove the negative battery terminal from the battery first, then remove the wires from the back of the starter. Now remove the two bolts holding the starter in and remove the starter. Reverse these steps for installation.
follow the pos battery cable to find the starter. Remove the neg cable then the wires to the starter and the mounting bolts and work it out.
* Detach the negative battery cable * Clearly label then disconect the wires from the terminals on the starter motor and solenoid * Remove the mounting bolts and detach the starter
The 1997 Honda Accord starter is located on the left-hand side of the engine, near the bottom. You can follow the positive battery cable from the battery to the starter.
The starter, on your 2004 Honda Accord 2.4 liter, is located on the bottom right side of the engine. The starter can be found by tracing the battery cable from the battery to the starter.
Replace the starter
follow the positive wire from your battery and it plugs into your seloniod which is connected to your starter.
REMOVAL 1. Disconnect the negative terminal connnection on your battery. 2. Locate your starter and disconnect the electrical connectors. 3. Remove the starter bolts. INSTALLATION Reverse of removal instructions. Hope this helps
The starter is located near the bottom front of the engine. You can follow the positive battery cable, from the battery directly to the starter.
1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal 2. Disconnect the leads to the Starter Soleniod (the cylindrical thing on top of the starter) 3. Remove bolts attaching the starter to the engine 4. Remove Starter 5. Installation is the reverse of these instructions. Hope this helps...
Only if the battery fails the load test.
