It depends on if you change all the fluid or just whats in the pan. I changed the pan and it was about 3qts. I think the converter holds another 3-4 as well, then there's the cooler and it's lines. I could've swore I read it holds 10-12 altogether. You should fill it with a dipstick, not by adding X amount because if you're just a little short it won't run. They don't come with dipsticks anymore, so you have to buy one. Nice huh? They think their trannys are so good that they don't need to be topped off or changed. They're so arrogant about their cars yet I have two Benz and neither are drivable. They and the one I had prior all had mysterious problems that the dealer claimed to have never seen or heard of before and were unable to fix. So now I have two beautiful and expensive junkers! My first Benz was an '85 with a manual tranz, it never failed me once. The newer cars are so full of electronics and over-complicated that they fail left and right. Yes, I'm pissed... Sorry for the rant, but consider it a warning.
