Most likely, I'm afraid. The real test is if you're driving along and you lose power and then the car dies and won't start. (A lousy test, getting stranded.) My battery went dead and three different shops told me it was the alternator, but it was really just the battery and my battery light never went on. Batteries last three to seven years, depending on what you buy. On an eight year old car, it's a fair bet your alternator needs replacement.
The battery light comes on when the alternator is either over or under charging. If the alternator tested good you have a wiring or computer problem. The engine computer is the voltage regulator.
A dead alternator is most likely. Maybe the ECM but not likely.
It is mounted on the engine and connected to the battery.
The battery light stays on when the alternator is over or under charging.
Battery and brake light coming on means the Alternator is not charging the battery . It could either mean a bad circuit connection or the alternator is just shot. Have the Alternator checked.

Use a tester to see if the charging system is working properly. If your model has a separate regulator make sure it is working properly. Make sure that your battery is ok, a battery with an internal short can cause the charging light to stay on. The engine computer is the voltage regulator.
your alternator is not charging your battery..u need to get a new alternator
A failing alternator.
that light usually means that the battery is going bad or that your alternator isn't charging anymore
more than likely a loose belt. it's usually a serpentine belt but whichever one is turning your alternator. the alternator itself could also be faulty or not properly charging.
alternator or bad wires
