* Drain oil through plug located at the bottom of oil pan. * You will not be able to take the pan off until you take off an engine mount bracket on the front of the engine. This is the only way you will be able to get the pan over the sump pipe. To do this you must have very skinny fingers and hands and a ton of patience if you are going to do it yourself. There are three bolts on one side and two on the other. They are VERY difficult to get out and especially hard to get back in. Then you will need to jack the engine enough for the oil pan to get around the sump pipe. Another TIP to get to the mount bolts on the front, loosen up the air conditioning unit and rock it out of the way. This will let you get almost directly to the 2 bolts on the front, otherwise it will be tough on the fingers.
* Remove bolts around edge of the oil pan. There are probably around 18 of them. It will be easier to get the front pan bolts out if you take the right front tire off, then the plastic cover to the right of the oil filter, may as well take filter off at this point. Now you will be able to easily get to all the bolts.
* Drop oil pan. Clean off.
* Clean gasket material from both block and oil pan. * Check to make sure the pan's mounting surface is flat with a good straight edge. Carefully level the surface.
* Install new gasket. * First finger tighten the bolts. Then begin torquing them to 120 inch pounds, using a torque wrench, beginning at the broad sides of the pan, moving between each side, until you get to the ends. Do not over-tighten, to avoid bending the pan's mounting surface.
* Trust me if you do not do this carefully and thoughtfully YOU WILL HAVE AN OIL LEAK! Now after doing this and taking more hours than I care to admit I suggest you take it to a shop. This is hard work.
* It is not "for sure" that you will have a leak if you do it yourself. Don't let a dealer rip you off. Buy a repair manual for your car. I have a Haynes manual and it did nothing to help with this job.
* It also depends on what kinda of vehicle you want to
