check to make sure all of the fuel injectors are plugged in completely, i have a 2001 sable and it had a rough idle after i had the fuel pump replaced, i had the check engine light checked at "auto zone" parts store, they check it for free. the code showed number six cylinder problem, changed the spark plugs and number six plug wire no change in rough idle. i read up on the internet and one person had a problem with a plugged fuel injector, it got me thinking after they said number six injector is easy to get to, i checked it and it was not plugged in all the way. plugged it in and all good now. i took my 2001 mercury sable up to the garage that put the fuel pump in, hads them rest the error code, it has not come back on
