Because the axle is moving just as many rotations but since the wheels are bigger it's moving a greater distance. Because it's a big wheel, after all the string is gone, the wheels keep moving, which lets your car coast a longer distance.
I don't know about making the "CARD" front wheels turn, but the steering gearbox, or the rack and pinion actually cause the "car" front wheels to turn, after the steering wheel is turned. Repairing either usually involves replacing with either a rebuilt, or new gearbox or rack and pinion.

I thought hey did not put 17 inch wheels on the Trailblazer until 2005? They should be 245/70/17 if they are 17's. Normally 245/70/16 for standard length LS/LTThe extended version of the truck will take 245/65/17
