2003 volkswagen jetta and the coil went out i want to put it in myself but don't know how?

What engine do you have in your vehicle? If it is a 1.8T, your coil packs are on the very top of the motor. There are 4, one for each cylinder. Once you pull the plastic engine cover off (if you still have it) you cant miss the coil packs.

Easy !!! Replace the coil. That setup is a temporary solution for when the coil goes bad.

It is in the engine compartment against the fire wall. if you find the distributor with 4 wires going to the spark plugs, follow the distributor center wire which plugs into the ignition coil.
