Engine, torque converter and PCM all have to match.
Yes , the PCM is the voltage regulator.
You can change the PCM yourself, however the PCM needs to be programmed by a dealership service tech.
If the Neon's are both the same year and have the same engine type then the PCM should swap out ok. If the engines are different then the PCM may not work properly.
your timing is not adjustable. the pcm controls the timing. your dis. is index.
change the pcm.
No.
I'm not a mechanic / technician but you would also have to change the transmission , the Powertrain Control Module ( PCM ) , and I don't know if the exhaust system is the same if you wanted to replace a 4.6 with a 5.4 in a 2001 Ford Expedition
There is no chip. It is software in the PCM. You wont change it without destroying the PCM. You might as well start looking for an aftermarket PCM, like El Diablo or something.
It is possible that the alternator caused damage to the PCM. Best to have diagnostics done on the car to see if and where the problems are.
timing is set by pcm, at factory!!
The engine computer (PCM) is the regulator, so you replace it.The engine computer (PCM) is the regulator, so you replace it.
