I have a 1994 f 350 ford and why do I have to let off of the gas to Chang gears?
It is necessary to let off the gas in order to change gears on a F350 Ford because the transmission will not allow it to change gears unless you do.

Check the choke throttle and linkage for binding that won't allow the choke baffle to close partially when you let off the gas. A good carburetor cleaner will dislodge any gunk or goop - follow the instructions on the can.

When you give it gas it advances and as you let off of the gas it retards. But it will stay the same. Now it does change base timing as the t-chain wheres and striches.
