most likely a selector arm is broken
Yes 4 high ONLY .
Yes, You can only shift it into 4 high while driving. You can not shift to 4 low while moving.
When I pull the shifter handle from 2 wheel High to 4 wheel High, nothing happens. It stays in 2 high! What are some of the problems that may exist?
For my 1999 jeep wrangler next to the gearbox to the left it should saw 2 wheel 4 wheel high neutral and four wheel low. What i do is put my jeep in neutral and shift from there
Make sure its in neutral then go to 4 low then 4 high after that put it in in drive and tear it up
You must stop, shift into neutral, then shift into 4x4 high/low and back into drive. To disengage, stop again, shift to neutral, then shift back in 2x4 and drive, for safety you should reverse about 10-15 feet to help disengage the shaft.
Needs to be in park or drive only. My Manual says on page 2-23 Stop your vehicle and shift your transmission to NEUTRAL (N). Shift the transfer case in one continuous motion. Don't pause in NEUTRAL (N) as you shift from FOUR-WHEEL LOW (4L) to FOUR-WHEEL HIGH (4H) or your gears could clash. You can shift from TWO-WHEEL HIGH (2H) to FOUR-WHEEL HIGH or vice versa at any speed if your vehicle is gioing less than sixty mph or one hundred k regards HHH
Set the 4-wheel drive shift stick all the way to the top that says 2 H and this will engage the rear wheel drive only for normal to high speed driving on smooth and level surface. Next notch down is the 4 H which will engage the allÊwheel drive for normal to high speed driving on slightly rough but level surface. Next notch down is neutral. An the last notch down is 4 L which engages all wheel drive for uphill driving on rough surface.
To properly engage 4 wheel drive on any vehicle you should: 1) put the vehicle in park (automatic) or neutral (manual, - Set parking brake). 2) shift lever to 4 high (man transfer case) or press/turn button/switch to "4 high" when the light blinks on 4 high and stays, shift into reverse. 3)then shift into forward gears. follow same proceedure for manual transfer case, withouth the blinking light..
2 wheel low 4 wheel low Neutral 4 wheel high 2 wheel high
can not get 4 wheel drive to shift in 1998 Tahoe
If it has 4-wheel drive you would see controls on the dash to engage 2-wheel high, 4-wheel high or 4-wheel low.
