Of course, the FCC requires that cable installation meet certain safety standards. The cable can not be installed in a place where a spark could lead to fire, or in any other way create a hazard or property damage. If it is impossible to install the cable without doing so, it must be installed in such a way that the risk is minimized. After cable installation, the company is required to notify customers of any interruptions that might take place as a result of maintenance. The company is also required to provide documentation to the customers about the policies regarding cable installation and maintenance. They also need to be notified about cable plans that provide a small amount of services at a low cost, so that customers are aware of these low cost options. Customers are legally allowed to do their own wiring. They are further permitted to use splitters and to have other installers work on the cable if they so choose.
