One of Isaac newton's most important contributions was determining the three laws of physics. His first law states that an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion at the same speed and same direction unless it is acted upon by an unbalanced force.

Some examples of this law are below.

1. When a car is going and suddenly stops, the passengers will move forward.

2. When a pilot turns the plane and the passengers will want to stay the same direction so it feels like they got pulled the opposite way.

3. When a coffee mug gets left on a car and then the driver speeds away, the cup will want to stay at rest so it will slide off the back of the car.

Inertia: "A body in motion tends to stay in motion, while a body at rest tends to stay at rest."

1. Drive a car at 50 mph, and put it in neutral. The car coasts, only slowed by friction.

2. Ride a bike and then stop pedaling. The bike continues to roll forward.

3. A car going 50 mph rear ends a dump truck filled with rock. The truck barely moves forward at all.

4. A Bowling ball is thrown at the pins. It rolls all the way at a 'constant' speed.

5. The guns on a battleship fire a volley of shells. The shells sail for miles at a relatively constant speed.

Which is the greatest force 10pounds 10 kilograms 10 newtons 50newtons?

A force of 9.8 N is the force exerted on a 1 kilogram mass at rest by the force of Earth's gravity at sea level. So 10 N is the force of about a 1.02 kg mass (approximately 2.25 pounds force)This is a scalar measurement.

Why does hot water cool quicker in the first 5 minutes?

This is because of newtons law of cooling, the rate that the water cools is proportional to the difference between the temperature of the water and the temperature of the surroundings. So, as the water is hotter it cools faster, as it cools down the rate of cooling decreases.
