It could be different reasons. Personally I had a similar problems and replacing fuel injector relay fixed it for now.
I suspect a bad distributor. Honda distributors have been known to fail.

very hard to say but sounds like an immobilizer problem, or it is not getting adequate fuel flow...
security problem mine does the same thing starts and dies over and over im still trying to find out how to shut off alarm
your car may need a new thermostat
I have the same exact problem.
Bad ECM or bad distributor
Overheating caused probably by lean air/fuel mixture or no valve clearance
because the stater get hot you may need to change the stater
The engine coolant sensor could be at fault.
Does starter drag? - could be defective Does it turn over normally?- Could be injectors are flooding
