exact same problem here too! got up this morning used the alarm key fob to open the doors as usual, take the missis to work, come back home use the key fob to try and lock and my alarm gives constant beeps, now i have to manually lock all the doors and if i set the alarm on the fob he alarm goes off 30 secs later.
Have you checked the central locking fuse (should be in the car, not engine bay) that would be linked to the immobilizer but if the car starts while the Central locking doesn't then changing the fuse might solve the problem.
Usually this is due to a flat battery in the remote (can be replaced by your self or a locksmith) Alternatively it could be the switch in the locking mechanism inside the door in witch it would be easier to have an auto elec or locksmith do the repair
Check the fuse that controls central locks; replace if defective.
The most likely cause is that there was an electrical surge when you jump started the vehicle. More than likely it blew a fuse that controls those two features.
yes if the alternator isnt charging the battery correctly then it couldnt be sending ecu false signals when my alternator was playing up , my central locking my hazards interior light and rear wiper stopped working
Check the speed sensor.
Check all your fuses first. Otherwise be prepared to pay a couple hundred for someone to do that or track down a bad connection going to that door circuit.
My wrx 1995 stopped working because of the carbon brush on the rear of the wheel. fitted after market neon horn swith to dash to get round it.
because they wanted to
First of all, there's no such thing as a 1989 450sl...they stopped making 450sl's in 1980...then they went to the 380sl for a few years, then finally the 560sl to finish up the 107 body style run. Secondly, if we are talking about a 1979 450sl, there is no central locking pump. The entire central locking system uses the engine's vacuum. There is a storage ballast underneath the front right fender....it reminds me of 9 black balls stuck together with a single vacuum line coming out of it. The doors, trunk and gas flap are all controlled by the central locking system. Each has and needs its own vacuum diaphragms...that are powered by the vacuum lines. If your central locking system isn't working, get a vacuum gun and test each diaphragm to see if they're working properly. There is also a small vacuum valve in the left door that might also need replacing...you should also check all the pertinent vacuum lines and rubber connections for leaks. One leak will screw up the entire system. Also, if you do have a 79 SL, you also have the worse climate control system ever made...this system also depends on a vacuum supply to function. That is a highly complex system that your mechanic should work on, not an amateur
its just your fuel pump. dont worry. that just means its working well
I had the same problem. Now I can only open and lock the car using the boot lock! There are two locking systems on the passat. The boot and obviously by locking the door(driver's).I would say that the boot locking system is acting up or stopped working altogether.Do the rest of the doors open when you turn the key in the boot? That would suggest it's the boot locking system.I know it's a common problem with that year and year's before.I know four people who have had it.Usually requires changing the lock on the boot.
