If there is no solenoid noise, it is probably electrical. However, you will still need to get the window unlatched so you can work on the tailgate. See related link.
If you are unable to get the back glass of a 2002 Trailblazer open, you can remove the glass or take the window panel off of the hinges.
This sounds very similar to another questions. See "If the back glass will not open on your 1997 S-10 Blazer and you can hear the motor but it will not pop open how do you fix it?"

only thing i can think of is that the back of the knob may be broken and isn't turning the actual piece that adjusts the temp...and that noise..if it sounds like a popping noise and does it once every few days.my blazer does it to, and so did my bravada i think all of em do

The starter solenoid is located piggy back on the starter.
The 2000 Toyota Camry transmission solenoid is located on the back of the transmission. The solenoid will be near the top of the transmission
It could also be the vacuum solenoid valve located on the firewall above the distributor.
There are to freeze plugs in the back of your 1996 Chevrolet blazer. There is a freeze plug on each side of the vehicle.

The shift solenoid on a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse is on the back of the valve body. Removing the transmission pan is required to reach the solenoid.
