starting problems are usually simple, first is it hard cranking?? if yes is your battery charged-some new batteries can be as old as six months before they are sole, good charge still hard stating, try cleaning your contacts on the battery cable ends grounds etc etc< this can also go other places but i would start there
check the battery or battery cables or the alternator or starter
Perhaps starter is weak. Have it tested for load and drag
There are several things that can keep a Chevy Tahoe from starting including the starter being bad, a dead battery, an alternator, or a fuel pump.
If it stays on there is a problem with the charging system. Most likely a defective alternator.
Had the same problem. Bought a re-conditioned alternator, turned out it was bad. Usually if battery draining, it's alternator or battery or both.
Many possibilities. Check in theis order: Bad battery connections? Bad battery? Loose alternator belt? Bad alternator connections? Bad alternator? (Test at auto parts store.)
have the alternator and the battery checked
It could indicate poor battery health or a problem with the alternator.
You have a problem with the charging system, probably a bad alternator.
triple diodes in alternator are bad
You might have a bad battery, a poor connection between the battery and alternator, or a bad ground from the battery.
To change the alternator on a 1998 Chevy Cavalier Z24, first disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the serpentine belt by loosening the tensioner, then unbolt the alternator from its mounting bracket. Disconnect the electrical connections from the alternator, install the new alternator, reconnect the wiring, and replace the serpentine belt before finally reattaching the battery cable. Ensure all bolts and connections are secure before starting the engine.
